Kaleidoscope #3

Kaleidoscope White Roses
Kaleidoscope White Roses
This was taken from a bridal bouquet of white roses. I wasn't sure it would work at first but I love the way the light and dark has made a star shape. I also love the shapes created by the roses.

Thank you for looking.

The black and white makes this Druridge Tide look dramatic.

A kaleidoscope taken from a photo of a bride's spring bouquet. I love the way it feels like a frilly doily.

Thanks for looking.

Watercolour - Warkworth Castle, Northumberland

The latest painting. Warkworth Castle in Northumberland. Size 8"x6"

I used some masking fluid to mask off the skyline before using cerulean blue hue for the sunny sky.

I used mainly yellow ochre and brown for the castle, adding some black for the shadows.

After looking at the finished painting again on the photo, I noticed the sky was lighter under a line to the left, so I've tried to soften the effect and get rid of the line.

Thank you for looking.

Photo Friday #7

I've been playing around with some texture brushes in photoshop and this is what I've come up with. I'm quite pleased as I love the background textures. I'd love to know what you think about them.

All of the images will be available as cards and prints soon on my website or you can email me for further details. Thanks for looking!

Watercolour exercise - puppy

watercolour puppy

My friend came round yesterday for a cuppa and to have a go at watercolour painting as she hadn't done any in a while. I was going to get on with something safe, like a landscape, but she suggested we both try to paint a picture of a dog.

Now that's not normally something I would tackle. Animals have never been my strong point, but I thought I'd take on the challenge. I'm glad I did because I was rather pleased with the outcome. I've tried to keep it fairly loose without losing the details. What do you think about the little chap?

Thank you for looking.
